The City of Jamestown is accepting applications for the position of Water Plant
Operator I. This position involves assisting in the basic operation and maintenance of the
water treatment plant to include monitoring and testing chemical feed rates of treated
water. Some knowledge of basic chemistry and mathematics is desirable. Applicants
must have the ability to learn the operation of motors, pumps, meters, electrical systems
and related equipment in the water plant. Applicants must have a High School Diploma
or GED and must hold a valid North Dakota driver’s license. The successful applicant
must be able to obtain a Class I Plant Operator Certification from the North Dakota State
Health Department within two (2) years of employment.
The Water Plant operates on a shift basis, consisting of a 40-hour work week with such
over-time as is required. Shifts are assigned on the basis of longevity. The Plant Operator
will be placed on the late afternoon and evening shift after training. In addition, there will
be some 11:00 P.M. to 7:00 A.M. shifts. The starting salary for this position is
$3,892/month ($3,892 - $5,878 salary range).
