Join to apply for the Store Manager role at Walgreens Job Objectives: Manages the operation of a Walgreens store and improves store sales, profitability and image through merchandising, protection of store assets, team member selection, training and development, and delivering a distinctive customer and patient experience. Job Responsibilities/Tasks Customer Experience: Monitor and analyze customer service provided by team members; offer reminders, training, and encouragement, and develop action plans for improvement in both retail and pharmacy. Greet customers and clinic patients, assist with products and services. Model and share customer service best practices to deliver a distinctive customer and patient experience, including interpersonal habits and Walgreens service traits. Resolve customer complaints and respond to special needs. Operations Supervise store and pharmacy operations, including opening/closing, shift changes, task delegation and scheduling. Oversee cash handling, bank withdrawals, security, and all aspects of bookkeeping including ledger, invoices, cash reports and time records. Supervise merchandising by planning and executing sets, stock levels, displays, and promotional space. Analyze inventory trends and manage inventory, including ordering, stocking, liquidating, and avoiding outs/overstock. Supervise receiving, stocking, pricing, returns, and transfers of merchandise. Ensure execution of District Manager operational feedback; hire and place staff, schedule work, and delegate tasks. Maintain store grounds and cleanliness; manage repairs and emergencies; ensure compliance with laws and regulations for alcohol, tobacco, fresh food, and pharmacy products. Ensure staff are trained on computer and technology systems; coordinate with IT for system issues. Adhere to company policies and maintain respectful relationships with coworkers; complete special assignments as needed. Daily Planning and Execution Assign daily operational responsibilities, set expectations for store team members and assistant managers. Business Performance Management Analyze financial and performance data; develop action plans to increase sales and control costs. Review KPIs daily and prepare to discuss with district management. Review asset protection data and implement actions to reduce loss. Analyze pharmacy performance indicators and work with the pharmacy manager to enhance pharmacy performance; provide support during busy periods, including serving as a pharmacy technician when allowed by law. Analyze clinic performance indicators and coordinate with Clinic Coordinator/Manager to ensure performance and support. Business Planning Identify sales opportunities to grow store and pharmacy performance; manage inventory levels, ordering, stocking, stocking liquidations, and anticipating fast-selling items and seasonal changes. People and Performance Management Manage team performance by assigning responsibilities, setting goals, observing performance, giving feedback and recognition; oversee employee career progression. Monitor and ensure timely completion of required training programs, including pharmacy training; provide coaching. Make hiring, promotion and termination decisions; address issues and disciplinary matters with Employee Relations and HR as appropriate. Develop performance plans and monitor progress; approve team member compensation; promote teamwork and motivate staff; ensure fair treatment and compliance with policies and employment laws. Maintain open communication with team through one-on-one discussions, group meetings, feedback, and questions. Training and Personal Development Participate in company and on-the-job training to improve skills; complete Walgreens School of Operations within six months in Store Manager position; follow performance improvement plans and seek self-development including pharmacy knowledge and certifications as required by state. Communications Act as liaison between district, corporate and store; respond to requests, provide feedback and implement initiatives; conduct community outreach and participate in community events as needed. Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and 3 years retail management experience or High School Diploma/GED and 5 years of retail management experience. Licensed pharmacy technician as required by state, or pharmacy assistant in WA state, or licensed RPh as soon as possible per state requirements (no later than 12 months from start date). Willingness to work a flexible schedule including extended days, evenings, and weekends. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree. PTCB or ExCPT Certification. Three years of retail management experience, including supervision and workload management. Licensed pharmacy technician as required by state, or pharmacy assistant in WA state, or licensed RPh.
