Valid K-12 school counseling credentials or Secondary school counseling credentials
Shall possess highly developed human relations and communication skills

Job Goal: To provide appropriate services to for all students that will enable each to achieve optimal development of, personal/social, academic and career success and well-being.
Responsibility: Responsible for classroom materials and supplies budget. Supervises students in classroom. Supervises instructional aides and volunteers as assigned.
Performance Responsibilities: - Identify the needs of students.
- Develop, implement, evaluate and update a comprehensive developmental plan based on the ASCA National/State Standards to deliver effective school counseling services for all stakeholders.
- Maintain and assess accurate records of program delivery activities and provide for periodic and annual program evaluation through data collection.
- Assist students and parents in evaluating the students' aptitudes and abilities through the interpretation of individual standardized test scores, state assessments and other pertinent data and work with students in developing educational and career plans.
- Provide individual and group counseling for students regarding personal/social, academic and career success and well-being.
- Function as student advocate and liaison to staff in program and total school development.
- Assist administration in the development and implementation of appropriate registration and scheduling for each student to insure the best educational placement.
- Provide information to students/parents needing special services regarding proper qualified individuals or agencies/alternative settings.
- Support special services teams by recommending and supporting interventions.
- Adhere to EEDA requirements to promote the participation of all students in career development activities regardless of race, color, national origin, sexual orientation, or disability.
- Provide orientation for students to school procedures and the school's varied opportunities for learning,
- Supervise or assist in the maintenance of accurate up-to-date cumulative records.
- Provide information and resources for students and parents about course offerings, costs and scholarships of colleges and other post-secondary educational institutions. Assist with application procedures.
- Assist students with making attainable assessments of their abilities and interests and of the requirements of post-secondary educational institutions.
- Provide career development/planning, information and resources including summer opportunities for students.
- Keep the administration, staff, community, students and parents informed of the progress and changes involved in the school counseling program.
- Foster a positive relationship between school and community which promotes an interest in and an understanding of school counseling services in the schools.
- Participate in periodic follow-up studies of graduates in order to evaluate the total school program.
- Support the school district's comprehensive developmental school counseling program for on-going maintenance and networking.
