FOX 7 in Austin, TX is transforming the way local news is collected and shared, and we're seeking a reporter to join our dynamic team. We're looking for a creative storyteller to engage our digital and on-air news audiences. Ideal candidates will have a passion for breaking news, all types of severe weather, and taking charge of the day's major story. We seek someone who recognizes that a reporter's role must evolve beyond traditional television to connect with audiences where they are. We emphasize innovative techniques that deliver relevant, memorable, and impactful storytelling across our website, news and streaming apps, social media platforms, and eventually on our linear channel.
This role caters to both digital and linear news consumers, offering content through linear broadcasts and our FOX Local digital platform.
To effectively serve both audiences, you should be a self-starter with excellent writing skills and a clear vision for how each story will unfold throughout the morning across various platforms. Strong live reporting skills and the ability to meet frequent rolling deadlines are essential, especially during breaking news and continuous severe weather events that often characterize the Austin news scene. We aim for high audience engagement on social media, and the reporter will be equipped with the tools to achieve and surpass these goals.
