Responsibilities The Pima County Information Technology Department (ITD) is seeking a Network Engineer to be part of a highly team-oriented, technical, self-motivated, and meticulous team where communication is critical. The architecture includes a high-performance core and data center environment built on leading edge networking and security. The work involves everything needed to support reliable and efficient networking service for public facing applications and staff in multiple departments across dozens of locations. Design, implement, monitor, and troubleshoot networks and related security solutions. Work closely with teammates and users to identify solutions and resolve issues. Participate in hardware and software upgrades. Utilize skills to support ongoing operations and project work. Participate in on-call rotation and off-hours maintenance. Address preferred qualifications in applications as outlined in the posting. Within the centralized Information Technology Department (ITD) Maintain detailed records of equipment deployment, configurations, and issues encountered during the process. Prepare reports on logistics performance, cost savings, and efficiency improvements. Plan and coordinate installation and relocation of computer hardware, software, and peripherals across departments or locations. Maintain open communication with IT teams, department heads, and end-users. Lead and participate in support for all types of tickets received by ITD: resolving problems, creating new capabilities, etc. Forecast computing/communications growth and provide proactive capacity management. Participate in the disposal of obsolete client and computing/communications center equipment; assist in client license compliance. Lead the automation, installation, configuration, documentation, troubleshooting and maintenance of ITD assets. Participate on Microsoft Teams to drive standardization and strategic implementations. Conduct testing to ensure functionality and performance of computing and/or communications systems. Identify and resolve any issues or malfunctions related to connectivity and equipment failures. Within The Facilities Management Department Manage fiber/copper builds for all Pima County cabling projects. Manage Pima Countys three Communications Job Order Contractors (JOC's), ensuring they follow Pima County communication specifications. Create, maintain and update Pima County communications specifications. Support Pima County users regarding communications.
