The FAA supports MFCU by working in partnership with attorneys, detectives, data analysts, nurses, and legal support analysts to conduct complex healthcare fraud investigations. The Medicaid program provides health coverage to millions of New Yorkers, including low-income persons, children, elderly adults, and people with developmental disabilities. MFCU is the nation’s premier law enforcement agency charged with ensuring the financial integrity of New York’s $96 billion Medicaid program by investigating healthcare providers engaged in Medicaid billing schemes that harm recipients and cause financial loss to the state. MFCU also investigates reports of abuse and neglect in nursing homes and other facilities, aiming to protect vulnerable populations. With civil and criminal enforcement powers, MFCU uses various laws to bring civil actions and criminal proceedings, including asset forfeiture. Many investigations are coordinated with federal, state, and local agencies, resulting in convictions and recovery of funds. Highlighting MFCU’s work are reports on nursing home neglect during COVID-19, lawsuits against nursing homes, and cases involving Medicaid fraud, such as theft and false claims. Qualifications A minimum of a four-year college degree in accounting, finance, economics, applied statistics, or computer science, or equivalent work experience. Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to work as part of an investigative team. Knowledge of computer applications like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Preferred Skills/Experience Ability to review financial records and assist in investigations. Experience with statistical sampling and analysis. Knowledge of healthcare industry and medical coding (CPT, ICD-9/10, DRGs). CPA not required but the position qualifies for CPA accreditation. The salary for this position is $66,964 + $4,000 in location pay.
