MECHANIC 
Department:  Maintenance

PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF JOB

Under general supervision, to perform the full range of automotive and mechanical repair and maintenance tasks to a variety of gasoline and/or diesel fuel powered buses and related vehicles including maintenance of shop equipment. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or equivalent, preferably with courses in general shop and automotive repair 
• Reasonable experience in repairing and rebuilding a variety of gasoline and/or diesel fuel powered vehicles or completion of an approved four-year apprenticeship in automotive repair or its equivalent
• Physical strength and agility
• Physically and mentally capable of performing all the duties of the classification

Employees in this class will be required to: 

• Provide the tools necessary to perform the work assigned 
• Must be able to obtain a valid Commercial Driver's license (CDL) with proper endorsements
