JOB OVERVIEW

• Coverage Period: 01/05/2026 – 09/30/2026

• Clinical Shift Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00a–3:30p plus on-call coverage as assigned

• On-Call Shift Schedule: Rotating call; must be within 15 minutes of facility

• Call Type: In-House or Beeper (as designated by Chief)

• Call Ratio: Rotating with other providers

• Call Response Time: 15 minutes

COVERAGE DATES

• Start Date: January 5, 2026

• End Date: September 30, 2026

• Credentialing Timeline: Temporary privileges available for clean files (no malpractice or work gaps)

PATIENT INFORMATION

• Patient Demographics: Adult and OB patients; healthy pediatrics only

• Patient Volume/Census: 4–5 surgical cases per day; approximately 700–800 deliveries per year

• Phone Consults: As needed during call coverage

• Case Mix: General surgery, orthopedics, OB/GYN, plastics, vascular, colorectal, ENT, GI, urology

FACILITY INFORMATION

• No. of Beds in Department: 9 main ORs (constructed ~18 years ago)

• Trauma Level: Level III (ACS-verified)

• EMR System: Epic

• Office Equipment Available: Standard OR and anesthesia equipment

• Specialty Backup Available: Multidisciplinary OR and L&D team

• Support Staff Available: 15 MDs (including per diems), 2 CRNAs, anesthesia techs, PAs, nurses, and OR techs

• Reason for Coverage: Ongoing coverage need until permanent replacements secured

• Nearest Airport: Plattsburgh International Airport (PBG)

PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE

• Hospital Privileges Required: Yes

• Temporary Privileges Available: Yes (for clean files)

• Credentialing Timeline: Expedited available

• Compliance: ACLS required; MMR and immunization records (TB, Flu, Hep B, Varicella) must be up to date

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

• Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance: Not specified (assumed covered by agency)

• Contract Type: Fixed, with daily and weekly OT based on differential structure

REQUIRED PROCEDURES

• Bread-and-butter surgical anesthesia (general surgery, orthopedics, OB/GYN, urology, ENT, GI, plastics, vascular, colorectal)

• OB anesthesia including labor epidurals and unscheduled C-sections (required)

• Regional anesthesia blocks for OR cases

• No CT, neuro, or cranial cases; no outpatient pain management

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Licenses: Active New York State Medical License

• Board: Board Certified or Board Eligible in Anesthesiology

• DEA: Active DEA registration required

• Certifications: ACLS required

• Experience: Must have OB anesthesia experience including labor epidurals and C-sections

• Other Qualifications: Clean malpractice and work history required for temp privileges; no work gaps

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide full-scope anesthesia care across OR and L&D

• Manage all bread-and-butter surgical and OB anesthesia cases

• Administer anesthesia for scheduled and emergent procedures

• Perform regional blocks and monitor intraoperative and postoperative patients

• Participate in call rotation; respond within 15 minutes when on call

• Collaborate with CRNAs, anesthesiologists, and OR staff in a team-based environment

• Follow department assignments and directives from Chief or Acting Chief

• Ensure accurate documentation in Epic EMR

• Adhere to hospital policies, CME requirements, and credentialing standards
